Stampin' Up! Day at the Beach

Today is the last day to get your hands on Stampin' Up!'s Day at the Beach stamp set. It's everything we love about summer; flip flops, the beach and of course sunshine! I don't know about where you live, but here in Minnesota Mother Nature is taking her sweet time in bringing us warmer weather. I thought I would CASE a card from the Occasions Catalog and show you how quick and easy it is to make a card.

Here is my CASEd card:

Here's the recipe for this quick and easy card:

Cut a piece of Pool Party card stock to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2" and fold in half creating a card that is 5-1/2 x 4-1/4". TIP: I find that I have less breakage at the fold line if I do not score first.
For the background, randomly stamp the starfish using Pool Party ink.
Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to 4 x 2-1/4" and using a corner chomper, round the corners to 1/2".
With Stampin' Up!'s Archival black ink, stamp the flip flops three times and the sentiment from Builder Birdcage. Sadly, today is also the last day to get the Builder Birdcage stamp set :(.
Color in the flip flops using Stampin' Up!'s Watercolor Pencils.
Go over the colored images with Stampin' Up!'s Blender Pen. TIP: Use a light touch and don't go over the image too often. This is Whisper White and not watercolor paper, so it might start to pill.
After all the images have been blended, "wink" the flip flops.
For the finishing touch, dot the "i" with a Basic Rhinestone.

Stampin' Up! Beautiful You and the New Watercolor Pencils

I've seen a lot of Stampin' Up!'s Beautiful You on Pinterest and decided to CASE a couple of cards. I also decided to try out the new Watercolor Pencils. Wow! I've never been a fan of watercoloring, but these new pencils have changed my mind!

Here are the cards that I CASEd:

This first photo shows how I stamped the image on a piece of Serene Scenery DSP and then I colored in the woman's dress using the new watercolor pencil.

The umbrella was my first attempt at paper piecing....simply stamp the image on whatever DSP you would like to use, cut the image out and then adhere to your card. I think you're going to love this technique!

Stampin' Up!'s Detailed Floral Thinlits Die Boxelope for the 2017 Desktop Calendar

For my Detailed Thinlits 2017 desktop calendar, I needed to make something wonderful to present this cute little gift. I decided to make a boxelope. What is a boxelope you ask? A boxelope is both an envelope and a box, great for those cards with a lot of dimension that just won't fit into a regular envelope.

To make the boxelope you'll need to use Stampin' Up!'s Envelope Punch Board. Cut a piece of card stock at 8.5" x 8.5". Punch and score at the 3.75" and 4" marks. Rotate counter clockwise and align up with the score marks and punch and score again. Continue on all sides. After all the punching and scoring has been completed, snip off the tiny, little squares in each corner.

Next we need to make this boxelope pretty don't we? That's where the Detailed Floral Thinlits come into play. Take the larger of the dies and place it in the center of the punched, scored card stock, soon to be boxelope. Run this thru the Big Shot. After removing all the little bits of the die, take a 3.5" x 4.5" piece of Whisper White card stock and using as a liner, adhere to the inside of your soon to be boxelope. This shows off the detail of the Detailed Floral Thinlits, thus creating an absolutely beautiful, stunning look!

Burnish all of your score lines. Take care when burnishing your scored lines, it's a little tough when they are so close together. TIP: Use a ruler to help with the burnishing....works great! Adhere some of Stampin' Up!'s Tear and Tap along the side edges. Place your desktop calendar inside your boxelope and form your boxelope around your calendar. Next, use ribbon and a tag made with the Timeless Tags Thinlits Dies as your final embellishments.
