2016 Easel Card Box

Today I finished up on the easel card boxes and they are ready to be mailed out tomorrow.  Again, I used the Whisper White Thick card stock to make the bases of the boxes, it works beautifully!  


Here are my finished boxes:

My easel cards measured 5-1/2" x 4-1/4", so I made the boxes 1/8" larger.  Cut your Whisper White Thick card stock to 6-3/8" x 7-5/8".  Score at 1/2" and 1" on all four sides.  I wanted an extra sturdy box, so I cut the box similar to a matchbox, having double walled sides.  Here is a sample of the card base after I've scored and trimmed:

For the top I did the same using Winter Wonderland DSP.  Before you score, watch and make Connie Stewart's Simply Simple Box Shim, for a perfect box top.  Here is the link to her video:

2016 Winter Wonderland DSP Easel Calendar

Yesterday I made the "manly" version of my 2016 easel calendar and today I decided to make a "girly" version.  Stampin' Up!'s Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP is absolutely gorgeous and very elegant, too elegant not to use.  So I decided to use one of the patterns along with the Butterflies Thinlits Dies to come up with this easel calendar.

For this easel card I used Stampin' Up!'s Thick Whisper White card stock which is great for these 3d projects!  I cut the card base at 11" x 4-1/4"".  I scored the base at 5-1/2" and 2-3/4".  On the front of the card base, I folded the 2-3/4" as a mountain fold.  It is this section where I placed my front panel that holds the butterfly and the calendar.

2016 Number of Years Adventure Bound Easel Calendar Card

With the New Year fast approaching, I've decided to accept a challenge that my upline, Dawn Olchefske  has given to her DOstamperSTARS.  Here is her challenge:

Out with the Old and In with the NEW. 

Today's challenge is to create a card/project using something old with something new. Ideas such as...use an old technique, layout, case a card, etc - but use a new stamp set from the Occasions/SAB catalogs.


I decided to use some of the retired Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack to create an easel calendar card for a few special men in my life.  The new stamp set is from the upcoming Occasions catalog, Number of Years. 

Here is my easel card:

Easel cards are very easy to make.  Simply take your standard A2 card base and score the front of the card in half.  Mountain fold and either place another card layer measuring 5-1/2" x 4-1/4", or a shape like I've done with this year's card and viola', you have an easel card!

Here are the measurements for the easel card:

The base measures 4 1/4" x 11".  In the landscape mode, score at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2".  The front card measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  I eyeballed where I wanted to place the post it notes and calendar.
